HISTORY Michael Panchery transformed concept to reality in his most successful entrepreneurial venture, the Hillsborough Street Hockey Camp (originally the Panchery Hockey Camp). In 2016, while playing street hockey with his neighbor, Michael ran through some drills and the idea struck him. Immediately, he seized the opportunity and made flyers, traveled around the neighborhood, created a website and logo, and established HSHC. The 2016 camp had 5 participants. The 2017 camp had 8 participants. After noticing that the equipment purchased by Michael was wearing down, it was time for an upgrade. Michael reached out to over 20 athletics companies, who all rejected a donation request. Nonetheless, Michael continued striving ambitiously, and in 2018, succeed in receiving a massive donation from the New Jersey Devils. Along with a brand new logo and website, the 2018 camp has been the most successful with 30 participants. COMMUNITY IMPACT HSHC has united the Hillsborough community. Michael took the program to the Hillsborough Recreation Department, where he held a meeting with the head and discussed making HSHC an official recreational activity of Hillsborough Township. The decision will be finalized in the spring of 2019. RECOGNITION In November 2018, Michael received the 2018 Magic 98.3 "Kid Who Makes Magic" award for his efforts in community service. https://magic983.com/contests/know-kid-makes-magic-2018-winners/ |
